Ghaziabad : In the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case, a doctor and CBI witness told a special court here Wednesday that he did not notice any blood stains on the clothes of Aarushi’s parents when he visited their house soon after the 2008 killings.
Doctor Rohit Kochar, who earlier told the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that he spotted blood stains on the staircase and on the padlock fitted on the door of Talwars’ terrace, said in the court that he did not know if the red spots he saw were human blood.
He told CBI Special Judge S. Lal that he did not notice any blood stains on the clothes that Rajesh and Nupur Talwar were wearing when he reached their house around 8 a.m. on May 16, 2008.
When he reached the Talwars’ house, he found Rajesh Talwar weeping while his wife was consoling him, he said.
Rajesh Talwar was wearing a red shirt and a pair of shorts while Nupur Talwar was in a salwar suit, he said.
Defence lawyers cross-examined Kochar on why his earlier statement had no mention that he did not observe any blood stains on Talwars’ clothes.
Kochar said that he signed his statement, recorded before the magistrate, without reading it.
The CBI witness said that he knew Rajesh and Nupur Talwar since 2007 and he taught students in a dental college with Rajesh Talwar.
Kochar said he noticed red spots on the staircase to the terrace but these did not appear to be human blood. He said he informed policeman Akhilesh about them.
The policeman said he would bring the keys to the terrace door lock but he did not do so, he said.
After Kochar’s testimony and cross-examination, the court adjourned the hearing till Thursday.
Aarushi, 14, was found murdered at her parents’ Noida residence May 16, 2008. The body of her domestic help Hemraj was found the next day on the terrace of the house.
Aarushi’s parents are accused in the double-murder.
Her mother Nupur Talwar was taken into custody April 30 and she challenged in the apex court the May 31 Allahabad High Court order rejecting her bail plea. She is lodged in Dasna jail in Ghaziabad. Rajesh Talwar is out on bail.
