This is done by organising road shows, held in Chennai and Kolkata followed by Delhi and Mumbai, by Promosalons, French organisation for the promotion of trade events, in collaboration with French Embassy.

“The objective of this tour is to showcase France as an ideal destination for hosting Indian buyers and exhibitors. This meet gives Indian business houses the opportunity to interact and explore avenues to increase their global footprint,” Jerome Bonnafont, Ambassador of France to India, said in a press conference Wednesday evening.

Paris alone hosts more than 400 tradeshows that has a footfall of about nine million visitors and 10,000 exhibitors, officials said.

Last year, India was one of the top twenty countries that visited the trade shows and exhibitions in France.

“We are doing the road show in an effort to attract more and more Indian companies to participate in our globally recognised trade shows and explore opportunities of trade and investment there,” said Claude Dimont-Mellac, CEO, Promosalon.

“We also hope to bring such international-standard trade shows here as we do in Canada, Argentina and China,” Dimont-Mellac said, adding that the trade show business in India is still at a nascent stage and needs to mature more.

“In India the basic problem is that of venues. The trade show business is not much developed here and moreover, we need more good quality venues to organise trade shows,” she said.
