Kolkata : In an attempt to secure better working conditions for the plantation workers, the Tea Board of India has approved a proposal to provide a subsidy on capital investment for drinking water schemes and rainwater harvesting projects.
“The board has approved a proposal to provide 40 percent subsidy on the capital investment for piped and metered drinking water schemes, and 70 percent subsidy for rainwater harvesting projects and storage tanks,” a Tea Board release said here.
A board meeting of the Tea Board was held in Kolkata Tuesday.
The board approved a pilot project for supply of drinking water to individual household of tea garden workers in Sonitpur district of Assam.
