Bhubaneswar : Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday suspended ruling Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) general secretary Jagneswar Babu for anti-party activities, the party said.
“BJD president Naveen Patnaik has suspended Jagneswar for anti-party activities,” the party said in a statement.
Babu’s suspension from the party comes days after he joined the Odisha Jana Morcha, a political forum launched early this week by suspended BJD leader Pyarimohan Mohapatra.
Mohapatra, who is BJD’s Rajya Sabha member, launched the forum to establish internal democracy in the party.
It was Babu who had announced the formation of the forum on behalf of the Mohapatra.
Mohapatra has been Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s non-official adviser for over a decade. But he was suspended from the BJD after he allegedly plotted a coup to unseat Patnaik.
