New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday asked the Congress to clarify whether it agreed with its president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra calling people of the country “mango men” and the nation “a banana republic”.
BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said the Congress should clarify its position on Robert Vadra’s posts on social networking site Facebook in response to the allegations made by India Against Corruption’s Arvind Kejriwal.
“Does Congress agree with Robert Vadra’s description of the people as ‘mango men’ and ‘banana republic’ or ‘cattle class’ remarks?” Javadekar wondered.
He also said the Congress never believed in Indian constitution and wanted to perpetuate single family rule in India.
“They behave as though the nation has been attacked whenever there are allegations against a single family,” he said, without naming the Gandhi family.
IAC members Kejriwal and his lawyer colleague Prashant Bhushan have alleged that Vadra bought properties much above his capital base with help from realty major DLF, a charge denied by the corporate.
