Abu Dhabi : The UAE’s non-oil foreign trade rose by 35.9 billion dirhams to 412.5 billion dirhams (about $112 billion) in the first five months of 2012, up by 10 percent, compared to 376.6 billion dirhams in the corresponding period last year.
Imports increased by 13 percent from early January to late May this year, raising the UAE non-oil exports by 31.3 billion dirhams to 269.7 billion dirhams. The figure was 238.4 billion dirhams in the same period in 2011.
In May alone, the foreign trade hit 92.2 billion dirhams, including 60.7 billion dirhams in imports, 13.7 billion dirhams in exports and 17.8 billion dirhams in re-exports.
