Patna: A former minister of Bihar was assaulted by suspected goons close to liquor vendors in Muzaffarpur district Saturday, police said. Six people have been arrested.
Hind Keshri Yadav, in his mid-70s, was beaten with sticks and iron rods by henchmen of vendors for leading a procession demanding a ban on sale of liquor in the district, police said.
“Yadav was seriously injured and admitted to hospital but his condition is stable now,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar.
Yadav, a leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, was on his way to submit a memorandum to district officials demanding ban on sale of liqour when targeted by the goons.
