New Delhi : Ahead of the India-ASEAN summit, External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna travels to Brunei Friday on a two-day visit expected to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.
“He is expected to have discussions with his counterpart and have an audience with the Sultan of Brunei,” Syed Akbaruddin, the spokesperson of the external affairs ministry, told reporters here.
The visit is expected to enhance partnership further in functional areas of bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional issues, he said.
Energy-rich Brunei is the country coordinator for India in the ASEAN.
Brunei is also the Co-chair of the India-ASEAN Eminent Persons Group, and they are expected to submit a report to the leaders of the 10th ASEAN-India Summit in Phnom Penh in November.
India will host the India-ASEAN Commemorative Summit in Delhi Dec 20-21.
