Ranchi : Jharkhand Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Bandhu Tirkey Saturday said he would bring in a privilege motion against a bureaucrat for allegedly “spreading misinformation” about him.
The row between the minister and the government official started over the issue of non-payment of salaries of schoolteachers that were pending for several months.
The minister charged the official with delaying the process.
“We will bring in a privilege motion against Shivashankar Tewary, deputy secretary of finance department. He spread misinformation against me,” Tirkey said, adding: “How can an official dare a minister.”
Four days ago, Tewary had alleged the minister had threatened him with dire consequences. The official had written to the departmental secretary Mukhtiyar Singh informing him about the threat. He also alleged the minister threatened to kill him.
The minister however denied the charges. He said he had only scolded him for not moving a file.
Reacting to minister’s denial Tewary said Wednesday: “Let there be a fair investigation. If I am proved wrong I will seek retirement. The minister should also take retirement from politics if he is proved wrong.”
Tewary’s official statement has infuriated the minister.
