Kolkata: Not content with the silver medal he bagged in the London Olympics earlier this year, shooter Vijay Kumar has now set his eyes on winning a gold at the Rio Olympics four years later.

“My focus now is to further improve my performance in the next Olympics,” said Vijay Kumar after being felicitated by the West Bengal government for his success at London where he claimed the second spot in rapid fire pistol.

Vijay did not pay much importance to his dismal show in the World Cup shooting meet last month at Bangkok. “I had only 10 days of practice. With such preparations, I think getting the eighth position is not that bad. I am happy.”

Vijay also was optimistic of West Bengal churning out more successful shooters like Joydeep Karmakar, who narrowly missed a bronze in 50 m rifle prone at London.

“There is lot of talent here,” he said.

State Sports Minister Madan Mitra handed over a cheque of Rs.1 lakh and a piece of gold to Vijay.
