Former UPA member Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has announced her party would bring a no-confidence motion against the government on the first day of the session.

“The government has a majority. We will establish it on the floor of the house, if needed,” Kamal Nath, who would face his first parliament session after being given the charge of parliamentary affairs in a cabinet reshuffle Oct 28, told reporters here.

“We are not counting the numbers as we are sure of the numbers,” he said.

“The Trinamool said it would bring a no-trust move against the government on the first day of the session. No other party has expressed support to them,” Kamal Nath noted.

Taking a dig at Banerjee, the minister said: “I have not heard in 32 years of my political career that a party with 19 members is saying it would move a no-confidence motion.”

He also said it was strange that the Trinamool Congress, which was in the government in the monsoon session of parliament, would be on the other side in the winter session.
