Egyptian president to visit Pakistan Friday

Islamabad: Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi will be undertaking a state visit to Islamabad Friday, Xinhua reported.

Morsi will visit Pakistan at the invitation of President Asif Ali Zardari, immediately after the D-8 Summit, said an official announcement late Tuesday.

The D-8 is a group of developing countries with large Muslim populations that have formed an economic development alliance. It comprises Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.

The last bilateral visit at this level was by late president Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1960s.
