IMO appreciates Iran maritime rescue operations

Tehran : Iranian envoy to the International Marine Organization said here Sunday that the IMO 25th general assembly meeting praised Iran’s humanitarian efforts in maritime rescue and relief operations.

Ali-Akbar Marzban added that in the meeting, the IMO director general described Iran’s rescue and relief operations as humanitarian and timely.

The meeting lauded Iran’s efforts in this respect including rescuing 29 sailors and two foreign ships, its appropriate performance in the campaign for protection of environment and utilization of advanced equipment.

Marzban further noted that the achievements made by Iran in this field have been registered as IMO official document.

Representatives from more than 15 countries including Italy, Singapore, Panama, Pakistan, Tanzania and Myanmar also appreciated the positive efforts of Iran’s Port and Shipping Organization in this regard.
