Three realtor firm staff jailed for offering bribe

Gurgaon : A court here Tuesday awarded two-year imprisonment to a construction company’s three executives, including a woman directot, for offering a bribe to a vigilance department officer.

Additional District and Sessions Judge S.K. Khanduja, who held the three guilty Monday, announced the quantum of sentence Tuesday to the three executives of Ardee City Gurgaon, including director Shaifali Verma.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 each on the convicts.

According to the prosecution, Verma, Tarkish Mathur and Manoj Panday offered a Rs.1.5 lakh bribe to an officer of the Haryana vigilance bureau in 2009. The officer was investigating a land fraud case against the company.

The court Monday held the three guilty of offering bribe.

The three were booked under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act in 2009 when they attempted to bribe Superintendent of Police Krishan Murari in his office.
