New Delhi : The railways have taken measures to give “relief” to daily commuters on Mumbai’s local suburban train services, the government said Friday.
Minister of State for Railways K.J. Surya Prakash Reddy was responding to a query from member Bhalachandra Mungekar about “the miserable travelling condition” in the Mumbai suburban trains.
The minister said 128 air-conditioned/dc coaches with new state-of-the-art technology had been inducted into service.
These had improved ventilation system, better seating arrangement and aesthetics, he said in the Rajya Sabha.
Also, 1,077 trains had been augmented from nine cars to 12 cars, he said.
