New York : A two-day conference of Muslim, Catholic, Protestant, Hindu, and Jewish leaders will be held in January in Sparks, Nevada, as part of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Annual Diocesan Conference of the Reno Catholic Diocese.
According to Charles T. Durante, pastor of Saint Teresa of Avila Catholic Church of Carson City, the religious leaders will deliberate on topics like truth, acceptance of each other, growing together, and cosmology for saving mother earth.
The conference with the theme of Integrity-Rooted in the Soul, will be held Jan 18-19 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks.
The Catholic Diocese of Reno, established in 1931, covers 11 Nevada counties, besides Carson City.
Hindu chaplain Rajan Zed, who will participate in the conference, has congratulated the Catholic Diocese for reaching out to other religions for a dialogue.
“Religion is a complex component of human life. Dialogue helps us to see interconnections and interdependencies between religions and even similarities in doctrines,” Zed said.
