Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Brij Bhushan Saran Singh and former Shiv Sena legislator Pawan Pandey, both accused in the Babri mosque demolition case, surrendered before the special CBI court here Saturday.
The Central Bureau of Investigation special court had issued a non-bailable warrants against the two Dec 17 when they did not appear before it, said the probe agency’s counsel Lalit Kumar Singh.
After the duo surrendered before the court, Special Judge Shashimauli Tiwari fixed Dec 24 as the next date for hearing.
The CBI is hearing a case on the Dec 6, 1992 demolition of the disputed 16th century Babri mosque in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.
A total of 89 people have testified and the 90th witness appeared in the court Dec 17 but both Pandey and Brij Bhushan Saran Singh did not appear.
