Chandigarh(IANS) : The Punjab police Thursday arrested three terrorists of the dreaded Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and recovered over seven kilograms of RDX from them in Punjab.
Briefing reporters, Kapurthala district police chief Rakesh Aggarwal said the preliminary interrogation of the arrested terrorists revealed they had planned to kill heads of three sects – two in Punjab and the Haryana-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmit Ram Rahim Singh.
The other two sect heads on the hit-list of the terrorists in Punjab were Baba Ashutosh and Baba Bhaniarewala.
The three terrorists were arrested from the industrial city of Phagwara, 120 km from here, the police said.
The police recovered two bombs – one container bomb and the other a pipe bomb – and several detonators and other equipments to make bombs from their possession.
“The RDX seems to have been smuggled from Pakistan,” Aggarwal said.
Police officials said that they were investigating the case further to find links of these terrorists with other people operating in the area.
In the past few months, all the three sect chiefs have been involved in controversies with the Sikh community.
