Aligarh: A seminar on “BRICS: Synergies & Complementarities” was organized by the Centre for South African and Brazilian Studies at the Aligarh Muslim University.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the seminar, Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University said that BRICS countries – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa are emerging to be among the world’s fastest growing and most influential economies in the 21st century.

Prof. Shri Prakash, Former Director, Academy of International studies, Jamia Millia Islamia in his keynote address elaborated on the proactive posture of BRICS countries on the international stage reflecting that emerging powers saw their future in a deepened integration into the international system and globalization. He said that despite these challenges, most of the BRICS members had established strong political and economic linkages with the rest of their region and played either leadership or supporting roles for regional cooperation.
Henri Carriers, First Secretary Embassy of Brazil in India, who was present, said that his country would fully cooperate with Aligarh Muslim University in research work and other academic area.
