Two held for selling fake marksheets

New Delhi: Two people were arrested for forging marksheets and certificates and selling them to people here, said police Tuesday. A fake law degree was sold for Rs.1.25 lakh.

Naresh Kumar, 25, and Vineet Sharma, 25, were arrested from west Delhi Monday, police said.

Vineet collected money and prepared fake certificates and marksheets for different courses of different institutions, police said.

Police claimed they arrested him after sending a decoy customer to him.

“Vineet agreed to charge Rs.5,000 for a Class 12 certificate and took Rs.1,000 advance from the decoy customer. Five sample certificates were shown to the decoy customer by Vineet,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav.

During interrogation, Vineet revealed that he got these certificates through Naresh, the mastermind, police said.

“For a graduation degree they charged Rs.15,000-20,000 and took Rs.1.25 lakh for a law degree,” said Yadav.
