Raipur : Chhattisgarh assembly witnessed uproar during question hour Tuesday as opposition Congress members walked out after accusing the government of ignoring tribals and fudging records on development works.
Congress member Kawasi Lakhma alleged that no work was done under the Integrated Tribal Development Project and officials had shown development works paper.
He demanded a government probe to punish the guilty but Tribal Development Minister Kedar Kashyap refused to oblige, prompting Congress members to walked out from the house.
Lakhma earlier wanted to know how much money was given by the central government under the Integrated Tribal Development Project for Maoist-hit Konta area under Sukma district and what type of works were done under the scheme and at what cost between 2010-11 and January 2013.
In his written reply, Kashyap informed the house that meeting of the Integrated Tribal Development Project implementation Committee, of which Lakhma was also a member, was held regularly but unfortunately the member could not take part in it due to his unavailability.
The minister informed the house that between 2010-11 and 2012-13, till January, a total of Rs.13.75 crore was received from the central government and spent on at least 43 types of works including drilling of bore for irrigation, installation of electric/diesel pump and construction of small check dam.
