New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has since 2009 received sanction for 3,004 requests it made to various ministries and government departments for prosecution in corruption cases, parliament was told Wednesday.
In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Personnel V. Narayanasamy said: “From 2009 to February this year, the CBI has made 3,413 requests to various ministries/departments/state governments for sanction for prosecution under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Out of these, sanctions were received against 3,004.”
He also said that the CBI registered 3,162 cases since 2010. This year, 102 cases have been registered.
The agency registered 1,009 cases in 2010, 1,003 in 2011 and 1,048 in 2012, Narayanasamy said.
