Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to head Himachal Congress

New Delhi : The Congress Monday appointed Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as the head of its Himachal Pradesh unit, a party statement said.

“The Congress president (Sonia Gandhi) has appointed Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu as the full-time president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC),” Congress general secretary Janardan Dwivedi said in a statement here.

Sukhu had been officiating as president of HPCC since Jan 8 after Virbhadra Singh took over as chief minister of the hill state.

Sukhu is a former Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress president.

Sources said Sukhu is not considered to be a Virbhadra Singh loyalist.
