DLF Golf Club chosen as best in South Asia

New Delhi : The DLF Golf & Country Club has been voted as the best golf course in South Asia and was one of the principal winners at the eighth Asian Golf Monthly Awards.

Widely regarded as Asia’s golf course Oscars and the industry benchmark for excellence, the awards were presented in Singapore recently.

The 18-hole, par-72 championship golf course, which was the first to have night golfing facility in India, has hosted numerous international events and is now slated to host the $ 2.5 million Johnnie Walker Classic, a tournament sanctioned by Asian, European, Australian and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

The DLF Golf & Country Club is an integral part of DLF City, Asia’s largest private-sector township in Gurgaon.

“It is an honour to have received this prestigious award. It is a great feeling to be recognised among the best golf courses in Asia,” said Aakash Ohri, senior general manager, DLF Golf & Country Club.

Among the big winners at the Asian Golf Monthly awards were Mission Hills Golf Club and Spring City Golf & Lake Resort in China, Singapore’s Sentosa Golf Club and the Thai Country Club on the outskirts of Bangkok.

In the country-by-country categories, the following clubs emerged the best: Ria Bintan Golf Club (Indonesia), The Club at Nine Bridges (Korea/Japan), Saujana Golf & Country Club (Malaysia), Sta. Elena Golf Club (Philippines), DLF Golf & Country Club (Sub-continent), Sunrise Golf & Country Club (Taiwan) and Dalat Palace Golf Club (Vietnam).
