Singapore : Two Indian nationals have died and a third was in serious condition after inhaling toxic fumes aboard a Singapore-registered tanker, officials said Tuesday.
The workers were part of a team deployed to remove gas and oily water from the Mt Anjasmoro when they collapsed Saturday night.
Kamaruddin Sathik and Selvam Dhinakaran, both 20, died while Kandasamy Muthurajah, 32, was taken to the Singapore General Hospital.
The country’s ministry of manpower has ordered all work on the vessel to stop until officials have “determined that measures are in place to carry out the work safely”, a spokesman said.
The toxic fumes did not affect a dozen other workers on board.
The ministry and police are investigating the incident.
