Raipur : Police seized Maoist literature and Rs.80,000 from a house here belonging to a woman Maoist commander arrested last week in Kanker district, police sources said Wednesday.
Police arrested 30-yr-old Jamuna alias Sapna last week in Siwni, a remote village in Kanker district and seized two bombs from Durgkondal area in the district on the basis of her disclosure.
“Police had conducted a raid at a house in Fafadih area just one km from Raipur central jail Monday night on the basis of the disclosure made by Jamuna during interrogation,” officials said Wednesday.
“The woman commander told police that the Raipur house is basically used by her husband Sumeet. We did not find anyone in the house Monday night when we raided, but a bundle of Maoist literature and Rs.80,000 were seized.”
Chhattisgarh is among the worst Maoist-effected states. On Sunday, a group of Maoists successfully executed a daring jailbreak in Dantewada, 380 km south of Raipur, in which 299 inmates escaped, included about 100 Maoists.
