Asuncion : Five people were killed and one man seriously injured when a small plane trying to make an emergency landing crashed near the Asuncion airport, Spain’s EFE news agency reported Wednesday.
“The plane crashed after running low on fuel, along a highway in Limpio, 20 km from the capital, near the Silvio Pettirossi airport,” Hugo Aquino, a top airport official told the agency Tuesday after the crash.
The ruling Colorado party sources said that two of the passengers killed were party officials who were transporting voting tally sheets of party election held Sunday.
Aquino said, that the pilot of the plane, an air taxi that took off from Bahia Negra, a remote town in northern Paraguay, told air traffic control it was running low on fuel before it tried to land.
