123 polling booths hyper-sensitive in Himachal

Shimla : Himachal Pradesh Police Monday said 123 polling stations were hyper-sensitive in the Mandi parliamentary seat, which will see a by-poll June 23.

Inspector General (Law and Order) Sanjay Kundu said that “out of 1,921 polling booths, 123 are hyper-sensitive and 256 are sensitive”.

“We have sought 15 companies of central para-military force for the conduct of elections,” he added.

The Mandi seat had fallen vacant following the resignation of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh after he was elected to the state assembly in December 2012.

Poll officials said the last date for filing nominations is June 5 and the counting of votes will be held June 27.

The Mandi parliamentary constituency has 11,24,770 voters, out of which 566,946 are male and 546,140 are female voters. Mandi has 11,684 service voters.
