New Delhi : The government was awaiting an official intimation from Rashtrapati Bhavan on the ordinance on food security, approved by the union cabinet Wednesday, Food Minister K.V. Thomas said Friday.
“We are waiting for an official intimation from Rashtrapati Bhavan,” Thomas told reporters here.
The minister said that upon the cabinet’s nod to the ordinance Wednesday, he had sent the file Thursday to the prime minister’s office, which had forwarded it to President Pranab Mukherjee for his consideration and approval.
“The file has been received,” said Thomas.
The government has proposed 73 amendments in the ordinance, he said.
The ordinance will come into force only after the president approves it.
