Chandigarh : Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday urged the 14th Finance Commission to raise to 50 percent from the present 32.5 percent the total divisible pool of the central taxes to enable the states have more funds for development.
Emerging from a meeting with chairman of the 14th Finance Commission Y.V. Reddy, Hooda told reporters here that the commission has also been asked to revise the weightage of four parameters of population, fiscal capacity distance, area and fiscal discipline while deciding on funds.
Hooda said that instead of using statistics of the 1971 Census, the commission should use data from the latest census.
The chief minister said the state government has also urged the Finance Commission to give a total of Rs.76,706 crore as grant-in-aid to all departments. The 13th Finance Commission had given Rs.4,200 crore as grant-in-aid, he added.
Hooda said that Haryana would suffer a loss of Rs.3,000 crore this year with the non-implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax).
