Gandhinagar : Narendra Modi, the architect the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) third consecutive win in Gujarat, was Monday unanimously elected the leader of the party’s legislators.
At a meeting in the state assembly complex here, the party’s 116 newly elected legislators – Modi excluded – formally elected him their leader, completing a formality for his swearing in as next chief minister.
BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu attended the event as the central observer of the BJP. Arun Jaitley, the party’s in charge of the Gujarat election campaign, was also present.
Earlier, Modi along with state BJP president Purshottam Rupala and the party’s Gujarat in-charge Om Prakash Mathur paid a courtesy visit to Governor Naval Kishore Sharma.
