Cairo : The extraordinary meeting of the Higher Coordination Committee for Joint Arab Action kicked off at the Arab League headquarters on Thursday with the participation of heads of specialized Arab organizations.
In a press release, the League Secretariat’s Arab Organizations and Unions Department Director Khalil Abu Afifa said the meeting, presided by Secretary General Amr Moussa, would focus on the role of Arab organizations in preparing for the Arab Economic Summit, to be hosted in Kuwait late next year.
Participants will also discuss measures their organizations have to take in order to improve their performance, as well as the challenges they organizations faced, he added.
Moreover, Abu Afifa said participants would be discussing a Secretariat report on humanitarian security in the Arab region, noting that the Arab League would be hosting in April 2008 a conference on “Enhancing the Principles of Humanitarian Security in the Arab Region.” This extraordinary meeting comes following a series of preparatory meetings which began on Monday at the level of experts.
