New Delhi: Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Naushad Ahmed Khan, who has been actively working for justice in the Muzaffarnagar riot cases, was attacked in his office in the afternoon on Monday in the national capital.
The incident happened around 2 pm on Monday, when Advocate Khan was getting CCT camera installed in his office premise in Lakshmi Nagar and sought permission to allow the installer to go to terrace to install the Dish antenna.
When Advocate Khan was going towards his office, one Dipaki Tyagi, a local builder mafia, pushed him so hard that he fell down, seriously injuring his hands. In no time, according to Advocate Khan, around 15-20 people surrounded him. Tyagi also made an attempt to kill him with a knife, he alleged.
According to Advocate Khan, he has been getting threats for his pro-active role in helping the Muzaffarnagar riot victims. Speaking to TCN, he said, “The local builder mafaia had been warning me for quite some time, and threatening me that he will call Muzaffarnagar youth to teach me lesson.”
Advocate Khan wrote the Home Ministry, Minority Commission, NHRC and Women Commission, besides Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi seeking their interventions in the Muzaffarnagar riots in September.
Khan was also part of the ANHAD fact finding team and is a co-petitioner in the Supreme Court in connection with the Muzaffarnagar riot cases.
Advocate Khan has filed a police complaint in the local police station against the attacker.
