New Delhi : President Pranab Mukherjee Monday met probationer officers of the Indian Ordnance Factories and asked them to keep upgrading their skills for the development and production of new weapons.
“They (officers) should never forget that for every failed bullet, or weapon, there is the life of a soldier at stake, who is performing his call of duty for the safety and integrity of the country,” Mukherjee said during the meeting at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
“It’s not about producing arms and ammunition only, it’s about giving quality products, ensuring timely deliveries and strengthening the hands of our armed forces, paramilitary forces and police forces,” he added.
He said the officers would need “to continuously upgrade their skills in terms of developing, producing and upgrading the weapon systems”.
Maintaining quality was of utmost importance, the president added.
The group of 41 probationer officers of the IOF Service, 2013 (III) batch, are undergoing training at the National Academy of Defence Production in Nagpur.
They were in Delhi to attend a three-day training on parliamentary procedures and practices at the Lok Sabha Secretariat.
