Junagadh (Gujarat) : A seriously ill lioness from the Gir sanctuary is recovering after being operated upon below its tail where six inches of flesh was hanging loose, the authorities said Thursday.
The animal, aged three years, was found during an inspection of the Gir lion sanctuary, district forest officer Manishwar Rai told IANS.
It was tranquillised and brought to the veterinary hospital. It is now said to be out of danger. The lioness will be released into the forest once it is fully recovered, he said.
