New Delhi : A court here Thursday dismissed the bail application of a suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative.
Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash rejected the bail plea of Mohammad Shahid, who was arrested from Haryana’s Mewat district in December last year.
The court said the provision of statutory bail lies only after expiry of 180 days after the arrest, during which the prosecution has to file the charge sheet.
The court directed police to conclude their investigation by March 26.
“I have seen the application (of police) as well as considered the arguments advanced and my inference is that let the application be allowed,” the court said.
The investigating agency was granted further 20 days’ time till March 26 to conclude the probe.
Mohammad Rashid and Shahid were arrested from Nuh sub-division of Mewat district Dec 2013. Both were imams at a village mosque.
During investigation, it was revealed that the duo were in touch with Pakistan-based LeT commander Javed Baluchi over phone.
Police have booked them under various charges dealing with criminal conspiracy and terrorism.
