73 bombs seized from arrested IM terrorists

New Delhi : A total of 73 live bombs have been seized from the suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists arrested by Delhi Police from Rajasthan, police sources said Tuesday.

Sources in Delhi Police said the bombs were found in the possession of Waqar Azhar, Mohammad Mahroof and Saquib Ansari and were seized by Rajasthan Police.

“Thirty bombs were recovered from Waqar Azhar, 14 from Mohammad Mahroof, 22 from Saquib Ansari, while seven bombs were recovered from another IM suspect, Barkat Ali, who is in the custody of Rajasthan Police,” a source told IANS.

Three IM suspects were arrested on a tip-off given by pakistani national Waqas alias Zia-ur-Rehman, who was nabbed from Ajmer Railway Station a day earlier.

Azhar and Mahroof are engineering students while Ansari is a computer expert. Ali is pursuing Masters in science from Rajasthan.

Delhi Police said the IM suspects were planning to carry out terror attacks during the general elections.

The sources said the arrested people were waiting for instructions from IM handlers in Pakistan to carry out bombings.
