Ghaziabad: The district administration is all geared up for the April 10 parliamentary election with a total of 21,561 workers, including civil and security force personnel involved in the exercise, an official said Tuesday.
Giving details to mediapersons, District Magistrate S.V.S. Ranga Rao said 10,040 civil and 11,521 police and paramilitary force personnel have been deployed.
A total of 2,355,467 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise for the Ghaziabad seat while 321,241 electors are expected to vote in the Baghpat constituency — part of which falls in Ghaziabad district.
This time, 23 under-training IAS officers have being appointed micro-level officers while 18 zonal magistrates and 116 sector magistrates have been deployed for 479 polling centres and 1,992 polling stations.
As many as 710 light and heavy vehicles have been acquired for election duty.
Preventive action under the Goonda Act has been taken against 47 anti-social elements while 10 others have been externed from the district. A total of 177 polling stations have been identified as critical.
