Bhubaneswar : At least two Maoists were killed early Sunday in a gunbattle with police in Orissa’s Sambalpur district.

The Maoists were killed near Bajibahal village, 350 km from here, a senior district police official told IANS.

Police seized at least five guns from the spot.

On Saturday, a group of Maoists, including two women, attacked a forest department office and set ablaze over 10 vehicles and looted forest officials in neighbouring Badrama village.

Police launched search operations in the area and shot dead the Maoists in a gunbattle early Sunday, he said.

Maoists are active in 11 districts in the state.
