Patna : The Bihar government Thursday banned processions by victorious Lok Sabha candidates following an alert by intelligence agency, officials said.
The state administration has directed concerned district officials to enforce the ban strictly, an official said.
“During and after counting of election results, officials would not allow supporters of any political party to take out victory procession or celebrate on roads in view of possibility of violence and tension,” the official said.
Patna’s Senior Superintendent Of Police Manu Maharaj told media persons here that victory procession or celebrations may cause violence and tension. “The administration will not allow victory processions,” he said.
According to an intelligence official here, atmosphere is surcharged in Bihar Thursday night ahead of Friday’s counting.
“There is an alert for possible tension and violence in the state after poll outcome,” the official said.
