New Delhi : The current system of education has suffered a disconnect from spiritual teaching, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) vice chancellor S.K. Sopory said Sunday.
“There has been a disconnect in our education from spiritual teaching. Spiritual education and technological progress should go hand in hand,” Sopory said at a seminar on importance of value education as propagated by Swami Vivekananda, organised at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) here.
He also pointed out that one should not get lost in the age of technological progress.
Recalling Vivekanada’s emphasis on different aspects of religion and education, Sopory added: “Swami Vivekananda was a spiritual scientist who had a unified vision, which scientists of today are just reaching. Ethics and value education tell us what and why we should do, and lead us to the right course of action.”
