Kolkata : West Bengal’s main opposition Left Front will hit the streets next month to protest price rise of essential items, communalism, atrocities against women and to protect democracy in the state.
Major Left Front partner CPI-M Wednesday said the combine would mount an intensive and extensive campaign across the state Sep 2-10 when it would also raise the demand for holding proper and timely elections to local self governing bodies.
A Communist Party of India-Marxist media release said the Left Front would rally the masses for organising a “direct agitation” Sep 11-15.
The CPI-M, which held a state committee meeting Wednesday, said it would begin its conferences at all party levels towards October-end.
The Marxist party has already announced that it would hold its 21st party Congress at Vishakhapatnam in April 2015.
Fifteen leftist parties would Sep 1 hold a mega rally in Kolkata to observe anti-imperialism day.
Separate rallies will be held in seven districts of North Bengal, the release said.
The party would also observe “Martyrs’ Day” Aug 31 across the state.
