Printing of ballot papers completed, says Election Commission of Pakistan

Islamabad : The printing of over 180 million ballot papers for the upcoming general elections has been completed.

The polling for 272 general seats of national assembly and 577 seats of the four provincial assemblies will be held on February 18, in which 82 million voters would use their right to vote, Geo reported.

The printing of ballot papers was completed under monitoring of the military, at Security Printing Press at Malir Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and Printing Corporation of Pakistan in Karachi.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has printed over 180 million ballot papers for national and provincial assemblies elections. The military has been posted at the places after printing of the ballot papers.

The green coloured ballot papers have been printed for the national assembly and white ballots for the provincial assemblies elections.

The ECP has approved a plan for setting up over 64,000 polling stations around the country, where over 500,000 officials would work for the electoral process.

The election commission has postponed elections at NA-207 Larkana after assassination of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

In Punjab elections have been postponed in PP-99 Gujranwala and PP-70 Faisalabad after deaths of Nasir Mehmood Sindhu and Chaudhry Asghar Advocate.

In NWFP elections have been deferred in PF-59 Battgram and PF-81 Swat after deaths of Al-haj Muhammad Ayaz Khan and Mian Gul Asfandyar Amirzeb.
