It is the worst floods the state has seen in six decades.

“As the weather has improved, the aerial rescue and relief operations have begun again after a halt,” an official said.

The aerial operations which begin at day break and continue till sunset are the only method of carrying supplies and ferrying the stranded people to safer places.

Roads leading to the Kashmir Valley have been badly damaged by the rains and floods.
