Mangalore: The Awakening conference for women empowerment will be held at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 16th November 2014.
Presenting the theme and objectives of the ‘Awakening Conference’, National treasurer of National Women’s Front (NWF) Shahida Tasnim said, “This conference will be a milestone for the movement for women empowerment in India.”
The publicity for this national conference “Awakening” to be organized by NFW will be launched here tomorrow, she announced at a press conference here.
“We believe this conference will allow us to form broad-based alliances with various other women organizations striving in various parts of the country. It is indeed a high time that the agenda of women empowerment was seriously discussed in the country and it must receive its due priority,” Tasnim said, according to a release from Fareeda Hasan, General Secretary, NWF.
On November 16, there will be a delegates’ session in the morning and a grand public meeting at 3 PM. The conference will also have various exhibitions and information stalls. The NWF’s publicity plans include extensive poster campaign, public meetings, seminars and documentaries, said Karnataka state president of NWF Fatima Naseema.
Tomorrow’s publicity programme will be attended by the national committee members of Popular Front from all over the country, including Jyoti Guruprasad, renowned columnist and writer; Flavia A’Souza, President Catholic Sabha, Padmashree T, researcher from BR Ambedkar Research Centre, and Mumtaz Pakaladka, Aasra Women’s Foundation. The programme will be presided over by National president of NWF Shahida Aslam.
