Aligarh: While inaugurating the four-day Workshop on Science Journalism, Dr. Manoj Patairiya, Additional Director General in Doordarshan highlighted the need for identification of right kind of information in the present era, which is full of knowledge.
The workshop has been organized jointly by National Council for Science and Technology and Department of Mass Communication, AMU from November 22-25, 2014 on “Orientation and Sensitization Workshop on Science Writing”.

Prof. S. Alim Husain Naqvi, Department of Applied Physics, in his presidential address highlighted the role of Nanotechnology in daily life and quality researches in this field carried out by the Aligarh Muslim University.
Earlier, Prof. Shafey Kidwai, Chairman, Department of Mass Communication welcomed the guests.

Prof. N. A. K. Durrani, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences underlined the importance of tackling with superstitions and development of scientific temper through science journalism. He said that India is a nation of remarkable ancient scientific heritage, particularly in Mathematics and astronomy, and the pursuit of popularizing the spirit of scientific enquiry started long before independence.
Prof. Durrani said that it was a matter of rejoicing that AMU had also carved a place for it in the domain of scientific communication. AMU’s visionary founder, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan established the Scientific Society back on January 9, 1864 at Ghazipur and in 1866, he launched the journal of Scientific Society, which later developed into the Aligarh Gazette and continues to be published as Aligarh Muslim University Gazette.
