New Delhi : Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the northeast later this month, the ministry for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Monday said the development of the region ranked high in its priorities.
Minister of State for DoNER Jitendra Singh said Modi’s visit to the region would “reinvigorate and re-emphasise the central support to infrastructure development in the region”.
“Narendra Modi is the guiding force behind all our initiatives and efforts towards development and welfare activities in the northeastern region,” he said.
The ministry said it will focus on the region’s infrastructural development along with its cultural and social integration in the national mainstream.
For the purpose, frequent use of Hindi in official programmes is expected to immensely contribute towards connecting the people of this hilly region with the national mainstream while highlighting their culture and traditions, it said.
