Kolkata : Former Trinamool functionary Asif Khan, now behind bars in alleged cheating cases, Tuesday claimed there was a conspiracy hatched by the West Bengal government to kill him.
“There is a conspiracy going on to kill me. The state government is conspiring to kill me,” Khan told media persons while being presented before a city court.
Described as a “habitual cheater” by police, Khan was arrested earlier in the month. A city court during the day extended his judicial custody till Dec 9.
Khan, a former Trinamool convenor in Uttar Pradesh, has been alleging the complicity of several of his former party leaders in the multi-crore rupee Saradha scam.
Once a close associate of Trinamool national general secretary and former railway minister Mukul Roy, Khan in September severed all ties with the party and floated his own political outfit Tahafaz-e-Islam after the Central Bureau of Investigation grilled him in connection with the Saradha scam.
