New Delhi : The Delhi High Court Monday issued notice to Delhi University professor P. Pardha Saradhi on a plea of former vice chancellor Deepak Pental, who was sent to the Tihar jail in a plagiarism case filed against him by Saradhi.
Justice V.P. Vaish sought response from Saradhi while issuing a fresh notice to him, as earlier notice was not served to him.
On Nov 25, Pental was arrested on a petition by Saradhi, who accused him of plagiarising his paper on biotechnology and also illegally using cobalt, a chemical substance, from the university’s science lab.
After his arrest, Pental moved a bail plea in the Delhi High Court which ordered his release later. Pental, 63, a professor of genetics and a noted researcher, was vice chancellor of the university from 2005 to 2010.
He is an expert in the field of transgenics. He has also received many awards.
He is accused of cheating, plagiarism, criminal breach of trust and forgery.
