Siliguri : The Saradha chit fund scam’s purported mastermind Sudipto Sen was Wednesday presented in a court and given a copy of the chargesheet filed in a graft case here.
The case was filed in police station in this north Bengal town with regard to the multi-crore rupee scandal.
Sen was presented in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate A.H. Rahman.
He initially refused to accept a copy of the chargesheet, arguing that the matter should be appended to the broader chit fund scam case being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Sen also cited the ongoing lawyers’ strike in the Siliguri court.
The case of cheating and misappropriation, started on the basis of a police complaint filed by Siliguri resident Umapada Majumdar, is being heard by the court here.
The Special Investigation Team of the West Bengal government has chargesheeted Sen and his close associate Debjani Mukherjee for their alleged involvement in the case.
